This is the part 14 of the tutorial series I am doing on how to create an open world Game in unreal engine.
in this part, I'll explain how to place grass, bushes on the landscape based on the landscape material layer. That means, grass meshes will be placed only where the grass texture layer is placed. and similarly, we can set different meshes to be placed on different layers. For this function, I will use Landscape grass output feature in the unreal material system.
Following video explains the main process you have to follow and only the things which require additional explanations are explained in the article.
In This part, we don;t make any changes to the material function we have used in defining landscape material layer. We will only change the landscape material itself.
Landscape grass output
By following this method, you can add as much as grass meshes and bushes into your landscape.
Next time, i'll show you how to erase these grass meshes wherever we need. Because when implementing games, it is essential to be able to remove grass in some places acording to level design requirements.
